The poster in question has joined a very exclusive club and been banned from lj photographers. You may now return to your regularly scheduled lives. Sorry for the disturbance, thanks to everyone who brought it to my attention.
Let me say, very briefly, that a violation of most any of the rules will get you a polite note, a second offense will also get you a polite note. Repeated violations might get your post deleted. Rude and obscene lashing out at other people here will get you sent away to play somewhere else.
If you don't like one of the rules, let me know, we'll discuss it and maybe change it. It's happened in the past. The way to get a rule changed is not to just keep breaking it and swearing at people who remind you you're breaking it.

Well, J and I got home, and I thought that all was well, because the servers in the garage were humming along. Turns out that the house is on battery right now, and the power appears to have gone out about 20 minutes before we got home.
It must be local, since the cable modem is routing packets (though it's also on battery backup here at the house). PSE says many local outages in our county, but no estimates - over 3000 customers out in our grid. That's really odd, considering cable has power all the way up the line.
Oh well, where's my book?

A few weeks ago I landed a job shooting Ozzfest for Metal Edge Magazine and had a blast. It was my first time shooting a live venue of this magnitude and that proved to be a lot of hard work that consisted of running from stage to stage in 100+ degree heat while carrying a loaded backpack and trying to stay hydrated in order to continue the job. But all well worth the experience, and i'd definitely do it again.
Aside from some of the musical highlights of the festival (Witchcraft, The Sword, Metallica), one of my favorite parts of the experience was turning my camera on the fans. Fans of metal are everything you'd expect - unruly, loud, draped in black, and sweaty. They are also everything you wouldn't expect - diverse, stylish, considerate of others, and one big family. It was an amazing mix of people coming together to share in a unified experience of all things Metal, at least that's the sense i got from the crowd.
After getting home that night and reviewing the photos, I kicked myself for not taking more pics of the crowd. Then i remembered i was there for a job and my focus was on the stage. I'll be posting some of the band photos soon, but in the meantime check out the Fans of Metal after the cut.
