The plaids are all the same pattern

I don't wanna sound like I'm dissin' your photos or anything because I'm not, but first of all, some of these outfits look kinda silly. But that's Gwen Stephani, I guess. The other thing is, and you might know the answer since you've worked with so many models... why do they all hafta be thin as rails? Whatever happened to something as beautiful as the vintage burlesque look?

Not at all man. Let me answer your question...

1. These are what they call "Runway Looks". These looks (i.e. what pieces are selected together) are designed so that the most important people at the show can see each item worn.

Who are these people I am speaking of? Well they are buyers from nearly every major department store who will order (usually right after the show) 40,000 pairs of shoes for say Macy's or Dillard's. Basically they are very different from "Editorial Looks" (what you may see in Vogue, Cosmo, or Harper's) which are designed to give an idea of what goes well together.

2. The reason why the models in fashion are so "thin" and tall is simply because they do not detract from what is the most important thing in the show - the clothing. They are basically human hangers.

I'm with weezel on this one, your photos are great but the clothes... eek. LOL!

And yeah, Why are they not allowed to have curves? I've always wondered about that myself.

It's something called high-fashion sizing. All clothes are made to fit models anywhere from 0-4, topping off at 6 outermost. [ more info ] "The Association of Model Agents (AMA) says that female models should be around 34-24-34 inches (86-61-86 cm) and at least five feet eight inches (1.73 m) tall. Currently, the height required to do fashion shows has increased. During the last fashion shows in Europe, the average height was 1.79 m (5 ft 10 in), the average weight was 50 kg (110 lb), with bust between 85 to 90 cm (33.5 to 35.4 inches), waist under 62 cm (24.4 inches), and hips under 90 cm (35.4 inches), to fit the 34/36 size of haute Couture prototypes.[1] Average dimensions for a male model are a height of 180-187 cm (5 ft 11 in- 6'2") and a weight of 64-75 kg (140-165 lb). Male models are also toned and fit as opposed to bulging with muscle"

Close - also the models don't detract from the clothing.

Thanks man! I've traveled quite far from the early days. Considering what I'm shooting now, I really should send Scott a card thanking him for screwing me over and basically motivating me to basically succeed far beyond anything he's ever done.

Besides shooting for designers and working Fashion Week, I currently have a photo I shot (now two) in the private collection of Eileen Guggenheim (yes of the Guggenheim Museum). One of those pieces is a lightpainting I did for Good Luck In Hell. Good thing they were never published in that book - I'm about to do a show of them here in NYC.

All in all I'm happy. Living well is truly the best revenge.

I love the clothes, they're fun. I don't like the styling of the model thoughs. I've never realy have been a fan of a bee-hive hairdoo. :)

I was expecting more from the models presented in L.A.M.B. show, but I guess runway is runway.

The models don't have a say in the matter.

That's not what I meant. I expected more out of people that do design for Gwen and people that do styling for the show. More bang for the buck, sort to say.
